Prototyping for Technopreneur
Prototyping for Technopreneur is an experiential learning course offered within the Entrepreneurship Program at the School of Business and Management, Institut Teknologi Bandung (SBM ITB). The course introduces students to the principles and practices of prototyping as a key component of technology-based entrepreneurship.
Through a project-based approach, students learn to identify and validate business opportunities, develop innovative business models, and translate ideas into tangible prototypes that address real market needs. The course emphasizes iterative learning processes, including mentorship sessions, field activities, prototype exhibitions, and reflective evaluations.
Expected Learning Outcomes
- Capable of identifying and validating business opportunities, creating innovative business models, and formulating a feasible business plan.
- Capable of communicating and negotiating arguments effectively in verbal and written format to multiple stakeholders.
- Capable of working together in a team effectively.
By integrating entrepreneurial thinking with practical prototyping experience, the course prepares students to transform technological innovations into viable business solutions.
The Role of MoT Lab
The Management of Technology (MoT) Lab at SBM ITB serves as the facilitator of hands-on prototyping activities within the Prototyping for Technopreneur course. Through our MakerSpace, we provide students with access to equipment, technical expertise, and collaborative opportunities that enable them to transform business ideas into tangible prototypes.
MoT Lab equips students with the resources necessary to explore, test, and refine their concepts through a variety of prototyping technologies, including:
3D Printers
Utilizing machines like CR105s, FlashForge, and Sovol SV04 to create physical models, product components, and functional prototypes through additive manufacturing.
Laser Cutter
Enables precise cutting and engraving of materials such as wood, acrylic, leather, and other fabrication materials for rapid prototyping.
IoT & Microcontrollers
Incorporating Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and ESP32 modules for developing smart products and technology-based solutions.
